What is the Social Electricity Tariff?

The Social Tariff, created by the Federal Government, provides discounts on the electricity bill for low-income families with consumption of less than 220 kWh per month.

These discounts are applied automatically, without the need to register with electricity operators.

Who is entitled to the benefit?

To access the Social Tariff discount, you must meet certain requirements:

• Families registered in the Single Registry for Social Programs of the Federal Government (CadÚnico), with monthly income equal to or less than half the minimum wage per person.
• Elderly people aged 65 or over, or people with disabilities, who receive the Continuous Social Assistance Benefit (BPC).
• Families already registered in the Single Registry, with a monthly income of up to 3 minimum wages, who have an illness or disability at home.
• Families who need constant energy for medical or therapeutic treatments.

If you fall into any of these groups, you are entitled to a discount on the Social Electricity Tariff.

How to Register?

Since January 2022, the registration process has become simpler. Enough:

1. Go to the nearest CRAS.
2. Bring all personal documentation and that of family members.
3. Complete the Single Registry to obtain the NIS number.
4. Wait for inclusion in the program, meeting the necessary requirements.

The benefit is granted automatically due to the regulation of Law No. 14,203/2021, eliminating the need for duplicate registration.
